Women Fighters in Reasonable Armour

Oh I do love this newly discovered website, thanks to @angelmcoy on Twitter: http://womenfighters.tumblr.com/

And this video deserves to be played over and over again at every con and in every concept artists's studio.

Saw this photo retweeted by one of my fave authors, Marjorie Liu.  The chap who originally put the message up was: @farwestchina and the comment was:

Great photographic moment with a Xinjiang street vendor fixing shoes and smirking like he knows something you don't!

This is the link to the website this photo appears in.

Larry Rostant

I'm currently reading Daughter of Siena by Marina Fiorato.  The writing is excellent and I highly recommend it.  But what appealed to me first was the cover.

And you have to admit, even if you don't read historicals, that it appeals.  I checked to see who the artist was and it turns out that it is none other than Larry Rostant!  He is much loved by genre publishers and his artwork adorns covers for a great many fantasy novels the world over.

Check out his site.

Aardman Studios

These guys are a little bit magic.

I am so looking forward to their Pirates! In Adventures with Scientists movie as I loved the book by Gideon Defo and the trailer looks awesome.

I love Phil Noto.  Check out his wonderful artwork over at his site.

Paint Spinning

As usual I was checking out various websites and links via Twitter and discovered that Viv Schwartz (superb illustrator and all round good gall) had this awesome blogpost on her site...all about paint spinning.  The picture above is from Viv's site.  I love the selection of these and want a whole batch of my own.

Check out Viv's blogpost about paint spinning and this is the link to the place that does these.  I hope to be able to visit it soon.

Hello world

mfb-randomnicity is a new blog that is an off-shoot from the main My Favourite Books blog I run with Sarah and Mark.

I've decided I needed another blog to upload random things I find during my visits on the net, via Twitter and Facebook.  A lot of it will be book related.  But there will also be random stuff - hence the title "randomnicity".
